Festival Fair opens Festival 2019 on Saturday 22nd June, centred in Bligh’s Meadow with plenty also going on in The Shambles and Vine Gardens throughout the day, and sets the scene for the amazing variety of performers and performances taking place in and around Sevenoaks up until the Finale Concert on Sunday 7th July, which once again sees a return of the ever-popular Rick Wakeman. Pick up a copy of the festival brochure (from the Stag Theatre and other locations in and around Sevenoaks), or visit the website to plan a summer of amazing entertainment right on your doorstep.
Not to be missed are two amazing and contrasting international choirs: 23rd June sees The Tallis Scholars perform at Pamoja Hall, The Space at 7.30pm (tickets £30), while on Saturday 29th June Europe’s leading gospel choir, The London Community Gospel Choir, take to the stage at Oaks Theatre, The Place at 7.30pm (tickets £25).
Other professional offerings include: David Starkey (30th June) presents his enthralling talk A Monarchy of Misfits, tracing the history of Royal marriages.
On 1st July Harry The Piano delivers his unique cabaret show as the star of this year’s Festival Reception and the following day, 2nd July, Pentangle’s Jacqui McShee plays the John Smedley Folk Memorial Concert featuring a number of Pentangle’s classics, including from the world wide hit album Basket of Light.
Alongside the professional content, community groups’ events feature prominently throughout the 16 days of the Festival along with other live music offerings, and a choice of walks, talks and exhibitions.
