Tonbridge Carnival Celebration
The annual Tonbridge Carnival and Fete, organised by Tonbridge Lions Club, received great support from locals and visitors alike.
And despite an early rain shower, a partially sunny day greeted the thousands of spectators who lined the High Street to watch the procession of colourful floats, bands, majorettes, dancers, classic cars and walking groups, many embracing this year’s theme, Animal Capers.
After the parade, the crowds made their way to the castle lawn where the Mayor of Tonbridge & Malling, Councillor Pam Bates, and Lions President, Gordon Hill, presented the prizes to the various categories in the procession.
On the castle lawn the crowds were entertained throughout the afternoon by bands, singers and dancers and the Hawking Centre falconry display, along with a variety of stalls and activities for children.
All the money raised from the 2018 event will go to local charities and good causes. Tonbridge Lions Club would like to thank everyone for their support, especially Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council, West Kent College who were the major sponsor of the event, the Rotary Club of Tonbridge, Tonbridge Round Table, and the Tonbridge Air Cadets for their help during the day.
