Win Tickets To Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in Sevenoaks
Having successfully navigated works by composers ranging from Purcell to Gilbert and Sullivan, this January Kitchen Opera’s band of youngsters aged nine to 18 will perform a new version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, a unique blend of opera meets panto, on Saturday 26th January.
Created by Deborah Gjeloshaj, a Sevenoaks-based freelance musician, the work combines the well-loved pantomime/musical and Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes with arias from well-known operas.
“This combination of panto and opera is a first,” says Deborah, who set up Kitchen Opera in 2013, meeting all costs herself with help from performers’ families. “Students experience different composers and styles in the same production, whilst contributing to the creative aspects too.”
Deborah is hoping to attract sponsorship for this and future productions, with donors being credited in the programme.
• Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs takes place at The New Beacon School, Brittains Lane, Sevenoaks TN13 2PB, with performances on 26th January at 2.30pm and 7.30pm. Tickets cost £15 (cash and cheque), from Sevenoaks Bookshop. For more information, visit deborahgjeloshaj.co.uk
