Charity of the Month: Folkestone Rotary Club
Folkestone’s Rotary Club has played its part in being a supportive group within the community.
The local charity, just one of 34,000 international branches, recently provided some children’s entertainment with the Grovewell Garden Centre. Among the main activities was a colouring session and a tombola which prompted many entrants who received prizes from the venue.
According to its organisers the event proved a real success in offering the chance for the families to learn about the good work of Rotary within the local community.
These sessions are held regularly during term time and the next event will be held on Thursday 25th October.
Valerie Webb, of the Rotary Club, said: “We are most grateful to the garden centre for letting us have use of their facilities during their open days which are proving very popular.
“We had a terrific amount of children engaging with the colouring competition and all seemed to enjoy themselves which was good fun. At the same time many parents learned more about Rotary and how we assist those in the local community and subsequently we were grateful for donations.”
