Charity of the Month: The Chartwell Cancer Trust
Local charity The Chartwell Cancer Trust is funding inspirational and innovative technology for young cancer and leukaemia patients.
There are an estimated 35,000 children in the UK battling long-term illness, the traumatic upheaval to their lives and absences from school is detrimental to their education, social development and wellbeing.
The new revolutionary ‘AV1 robot’ is designed to bring oncology children back into the classroom. If they are too sick to attend school, the AV1 can take their place as their eyes, ears and voice. The robot allows them to interact with their classmates, teachers and can even join in on the playground. It is portable and is easily live-streamed to a phone or tablet via an app offering a seamless interactive connection wherever the child is.
The AV1 will provide children with a bridge back to school life, education and normality throughout their treatment period.
The charity is inviting local school representatives to contact them for availability on 01959 570322 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
