Help Make Christmas Brighter for Homeless People in Kent

Helping treat someone to a Christmas meal has a bigger impact than you might think.

As Kent’s leading homelessness charity, Porchlight helps people who have nowhere to go and no one to turn to.

As our residents sit down to enjoy a special meal (perhaps for the first time in years) they’ll be doing so with a new sense of hope.

Many will have spent last Christmas on the streets. This year they can enjoy a meal in one of our hostels, safe in the knowledge they have somewhere warm and secure to call home.

Last year, Porchlight’s street team found 834 people rough sleeping in Kent. Five years ago, that figure was just 148.

We do more than provide shelter and a hot meal. Porchlight helps people overcome the psychologically damaging effects of homelessness so that they can start to rebuild their lives.

Cookery courses are among the many activities we offer to help people regain their self-worth and confidence. This year’s Christmas meal will have been proudly made by our residents in a Porchlight cookery session. The sessions are run by staff member David. He was once in a similar situation to our residents and knows the value of shared activities.

By making a donation today, you can help even more people receive the practical and emotional support they need for a brighter, healthier future.

Please help us to make sure no-one is left out in the cold this Christmas. Every penny you donate will change lives. Give a gift that counts: porchlight.org.uk/donate
