Tonbridge's Environmental Champions Rewarded
An impressive 146 groups and individuals have been recognised as Environmental Champions by Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council for ‘going the extra mile’ to improve their local environment.
The awards are now in their 10th year and Tonbridge & Malling Mayor, Councillor Pam Bates, presented certificates to a further 10 groups and four individual winners, one of which is a litter-picking dog from Tonbridge (pictured above)!
The scheme, which was launched in 2009 to encourage more people to take an active role in helping to improve their environment, is open to all Tonbridge & Malling residents and anyone can nominate a person or a group to become an Environmental Champion.
Each of the four individuals and the 10 groups won hampers of award-winning, local Kentish produce including limited-edition Spadework pink apple juice, Kent Crisps and locally-made preserves from Spadework Farm Shop in Offham, West Malling. Local honey from a Marden-based beekeeper was also included in the prize.
