Mayor Opens New Look Marquis of Granby

An historic village pub has been officially reopened by the Mayor of Dover, Councillor Sue Jones, who pulled a ceremonial first pint at the opening night party.

The 200-year-old Marquis at Alkham, which was bought by Ashford’s GSE Group last year, has reopened under its original name of the Marquis of Granby and has undergone an extensive refurbishment with the new team led by Will and Nadine Sheldon aiming to make it an important part of village life.

Nadine said: “This building has been a focal point for the village and surrounding area for more than two centuries. We are very aware of its history and importance and are proud to be continuing its story into a new era.”
