Restaurant Review: The Fleur De Lis, Leigh
The Fleur De Lis in Leigh is a lovely family pub providing freshly prepared food and using locally sourced ingredients. When I visited one evening with a guest we were warmly welcomed and settled in a cosy booth where we could enjoy the relaxing atmosphere as family and friends gathered for a meal or just a drink to catch up.
I started with a deliciously creamy butternut squash soup which came with a warm crusty – and large – roll, while my dining partner chose the tiger prawns in curry sauce and cucumber yoghurt – which had juicy prawns and just the right amount of spice in it.
For mains, as it was a Thursday night – steak night – my partner chose to take advantage of the great deal of a 7oz steak with chunky chips and mushroom which came with a 125ml glass of wine for the great price of £13. I chose the chicken with sweet potato puree and curly kale and the presentation of both meals matched the delightful taste of them.
With desserts on the menu including apple crumble, sticky toffee pudding, brownie, cheeses and ice creams and sorbets there is a variety of choices to round off your meal. But don’t forget to check the specials board, as there are exciting options available for all courses on there.
On the drinks front, there are a selection of fine ales including award-winning Timonthy Taylor Landlord ale and a regular local ale, which is presently Tonbridge Copperknob, and the wine cellar offers a good selection of European and worldwide wines, together with sparkling wines and champagne, plus they also have a gin menu to choose from with Fever-tree mixers. It is no surprise this year they were awarded the CAMRA Good Beer Guide Rosette 2018/2019.
So with the regular delicious menu, steak night, a fish night special now on Fridays and the Christmas menu to check out, there are so many reasons to visit Fleur De Lis.
